I primarily use the PS5 controller with the Bluetooth connectivity method and keep it wire connected to always have a fully charged gamepad.
Sometime after the last PS5 or Dualsense controller update, my controller started indicating (on TV screen) low battery during use.
I went through all the troubleshooting and still would the controller indicate it was at low battery.
I then figured it was time that the battery didn’t hold a charge anymore so instead of spending an expensive $70 for a new controller I opted to replace the battery with a 5000mAh high capacity battery replacement.
A fairly easy install that seemed to work.
After a few days, again I get a low battery message.
I see my controller is charging while plugged as indicated through the user menu so what could it be?.
Was it the last updates or a degraded usb/usb-c cable?
As it turns out it was a dying USB cable.
I use a brand new cable and now my controller can charge while playing.
What causes cable degrading?
As many have experienced with a keyboard or anything that may be wired, sometimes after a long time the wired component will develop a serious bend at the top of where it begins.
For example. At the top of a wired keyboard that is wired or connected with a cable has developed a hard bend to the left or right which would degrade the connectivity and begin to show connection failure.
If cable is hardwired (or fixed) then that can be a sketchy fix situation.
If detachable then it is time to get a new cable.
It sucks how things aren’t built to last and it gets very tiresome having to keep buying that can get very costly.
So… Is there a way to revive and old usb cable or is there a third party cable that can last much longer than the average.
I find cheap and expensive cables both usually last and function the same but I will try a new product that is a sheath shrink tubing that seems to work well with usb cables.
Maybe this could save me some troubles having to always rebuy cables and at last have them last longer.

New USB-c cable and the problem is back.
I have even tried the old USB cable on other consoles and as a phone charger which works perfectly.
This time with my attention on the low battery messages that keep popping up on the screen, I gently wiggle the cable at the top of the PS5 controller and the messages start displaying.
I hold it to one angle they stop.
I move it to another angle and it disconnects.
Now what could it be? A faulty usb-c port on the controller or what?
Again, this all started after the last controller update and I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions.
I’m at a loss as this is seriously annoying.
I’ll post an update if a find a solution.
