Recently bought a custom PS1 (from stoneagegamer.com) with many mods like a terraonion mode ode, shiny mini hdmi etc etc.
Just adding some notes and will occasionally add update.

In-Game Reset Kit for PlayStation – PyroESP
The button combination for the controllers is:
L2 + R2 + SELECT + START, for a short reset pulse ( Restart to Game)
L2 + R2 + SELECT + CROSS (X button), for a long reset pulse (Reset to MODE, Xstation Menu)
The lightgun combination is:
A + B + TRIGGER, for a long reset pulse

Small update:  I’m working on building a game collection on a hard drive to get that out the way so that I don’t have to keep opening up the console to install or change things around.

After that I will install a SD card mount kit and update from the card without opening up the console.
